Digital Desk: A fierce argument over the use of the Assamese language turned violent in the early hours of Sunday at ABC Point in Guwahati.
The incident occurred when five drunken youths came to Barbie Hotel and Fast Food in a Mahindra Thar car intending to have dinner.
The scenario escalated when the Hindi-speaking youngsters assaulted the hotel workers merely for speaking Assamese.
The public intervened to avoid additional harm after witnessing the attack on the hotel workers. The incident erupted, however, when the five individuals engaged in a physical altercation with members of the public. In response to the tense circumstances, the enraged crowd damaged the Thar vehicle.
Furthermore, the Bhangagarh police responded quickly to reports of the event. Three of the five boys involved were taken into custody while the other two escaped.
