Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Tata Sons Limited Chairman N Chandrasekaran performed the Bhumi Pujan for India's first indigenous semiconductor assembly and test facility in Jagiroad, Morigaon district. 

The Rs 27,000 crore Tata Electronics greenfield project was celebrated with hymns from priests across India and the unveiling of a 3-D model by the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) hailed the event as a historic day for Assam, noting that the facility will transform the state’s industrial landscape and usher in significant growth. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had virtually laid the foundation stone on March 13 this year.

The semiconductor facility is expected to develop employment for over 30,000 people.
