The NDMC gave the route's renaming its approval at a meeting of its members.

Digital Desk: Authorities from the New Delhi Municipal Council have announced the renaming of the Aurangzeb Lane in Lutyens' Delhi to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Lane. The NDMC gave the route's renaming its approval at a meeting of its members.

In August 2015, the NDMC changed the name of Aurangzeb Road to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road. Between Abdul Kalam Road and Prithvi Raj Road is the Aurangzeb Lane.

According to clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 231 of the New Delhi Municipal Act, 1994, an agenda item has been put before the council to propose renaming "Aurangzeb Lane" within the NDMC territory as "Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Lane," according to NDMC Vice Chairman Satish Upadhyaya.
