Finally, today Karnataka High Court has announced the verdict for the pleas submitted by the Muslim girls asking Hijab to be permitted in class.
Digital Desk: On Tuesday, the Karnataka High Court rejects all Muslim girls' pleas requesting permission to wear hijab in the class. The Karnataka High Court stated in its final ruling that Muslim women's wearing of the hijab is not an essential religious practice under the Islamic faith. The court also affirmed a government decree issued by the state government on February 5, 2022, on the clothing code. However, the court went on to say that "the prescription of uniform for students in an institution falls under the scope of reasonable limits." A group of roughly six students from the Government PU College for Girls in Udupi demanded that they wear hijab in class. According to the college, the guidelines were explained to them during the admissions process, and no one opposed them.
