New Delhi: Amid the spike in covid cases in the national capital, the Delhi government has ordered the shutdown of all private offices, except those in exempted categories, on Tuesday.
Private offices, which were previously functioning with a 50% workforce, have been urged to adopt the work-from-home policy.
Only those who fall into the exempted category will open private offices. The DDMA decision was made in response to an increase in corona cases in Delhi.
Moreover, restaurants and bars were also ordered to close by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority. However, restaurants are permitted the option of home delivery and takeaway.
Currently, government offices in the city area operate with a 50 percent attendance rate.
On Monday, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal said that restaurants in Delhi had been closed for dine-in due to an increase in Covid-19 cases, and only take away option is permitted.

“In light of the surge in positive instances, it has been decided to close the eateries and bars and allow only ‘take away’ facilities.” Baijal tweeted after chairing the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meeting.
He added that each zone would be limited to one weekly market per day.
The health department has been ordered to make proper plans for the additional workforce in hospitals and increase the vaccination campaign, particularly among individuals under 15 to 18 years.
“After detailed discussion with experts, it was advised to adhere to Test, Track & Treat strategy with emphasis on enforcement of Covid Appropriate Behaviour to contain the spread of infection.” Baijal tweeted.
Further, Baijal emphasized the need for rigorous adherence to the Covid-19 rules and the need for increased attention.
Due to an increase in Covid-19 cases, the DDMA decided that the limitations in New Delhi would be tightened even more, but there would be no lockdown for the time being.
As per the Delhi Health Department reports, the city’s positive rate has risen to 23.53 percent. After recording 25,219 cases on May 1, the national capital recorded 22,751 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, the greatest number in the last eight months. With this, the total number of infections has risen to 15,49,730, with current covid cases standing at 60,733, the highest number since May 16.
Additionally, a weekend curfew and a few limitations during the weekdays under the yellow alert have been imposed. The severity of the pandemic-related restrictions is determined by the Graded Action Response Plan (GRAP), which the DDMA has approved.
