Digital Desk: Due to an increase in dengue cases in Assam, schools and colleges in the Karbi Anglong district have been ordered to close. The decision was made because of the severity of the vector-borne sickness. Notably, the state's worst-affected district is Karbi Anglong. For the next five days, all schools and universities will be closed.

In the first week of November, at least 369 dengue cases were detected in the state. 344 instances out of the total were reported only from the Karbi Anglong district. The Assam Health Department has implemented a number of preventive measures, including fogging and the release of particular fish species that feed on mosquito larvae.

The department is also raising awareness among the people of the state, particularly among the rural population. Apart from Karbi Anglong, the Kamrup Metropolitan District recorded 11 cases, with Nalbari, Sivasagar, and Dima Hasao each reporting two. Each of the following districts reported one case: Darrang, Dibrugarh, Kamrup Rural, Nagaon, Hojai, Sonitpur, Tinsukia, and Udalguri. Earlier, one person died at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital in Guwahati.

The team from the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program (NVBDCP), Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), and National Health Mission Director Dr. MS Lakshmi Priya visited the afflicted areas in Karbi Anglong and evaluated the situation. The team visited 1422 houses in total. MD, NHM Assam also presided over a review meeting on the dengue effort and the state's current situation.
