Digital Desk: A fatal road accident at Goreswar Chowk in Tamulpur district claimed one life and left 11 others injured early this morning around 6 am.


The incident involved a head-on collision between a passenger tempo (AS-28-C-4667) travelling from Rangia and an Eeco van (AS-13-R-7370) heading from the Bhutan border toward Rangia.


The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Mahesh Bodo, who died on the spot.


The passengers in the tempo were migrant workers returning from Gujarat to celebrate the Rongali Bihu festival.


They had just arrived at the Rangia Railway Station and were on the final leg of their journey home when the tragedy struck.


Following the collision, local residents and personnel from the Indian Army rushed to the scene to conduct rescue operations.


All injured individuals were immediately shifted to Tamulpur Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital by ambulance.


Medical officials report that two of the victims remain in critical condition. The tragic accident has cast a deep pall of gloom over the area during the festive season.
