Digital Desk: For the first time in 75 years, the Republic Day Parade will not start at the scheduled time of 10:00 am but rather would start 30 minutes late due to COVID-19 restrictions and homage to Jammu and Kashmir security personnel.  According to a senior police official, the Republic Day procession used to start at 10 am every year, but this year it will begin at 10.30 am. He went on to say that the delay is due to COVID-19-related constraints, and that before the march begins, a tribute will be paid to security men who died in Jammu and Kashmir. Also Read: More than 16 crore people forced into poverty in the first 2 years of Pandemic: Report "The parade ceremony will be 90-minute-long like last year, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the National War Memorial near the India Gate. Later, contingents will March past. Tableaus will be showcased representing cultural diversity, social and economic progress during the parade," he added. According to the officer, tableaus will travel to Red Fort and be stationed there for public display, but marching contingents will stop at National Stadium. Artists performing in Republic Day cultural events are not permitted to meet anyone because of COVID-19 limitations. He went on to say that they travel in cleaned vehicles and are kept segregated to avoid becoming infected. "Homage will be paid to security personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police who lost their lives in the line of duty," he added. This is for the very first time in 75 years, the Republic Day parade would start late than the scheduled timings.
