Digital Desk: Team India defeated New Zealand in the first One Day International at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad by 12 runs thanks to huge innings from Shubman Gill and a four-wicket haul from Mohammed Siraj. India chose to bat first, and after Shubman Gill scored 208 and reached his first double-century, the team scored 349/8 in 50 overs. After that, New Zealand got off to a poor start by losing quick wickets, but Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner (57), who opened up a massive partnership, helped the visitors get back into the game. Mohammed Siraj, though, made two strikes, got rid of Santner and Henry Shipley in one over, and put considerable pressure on New Zealand.

Later, Bracewell led the charge and scored 140 runs, but Shardul Thakur eventually got rid of him in the final over, giving the hosts a 12-run victory. Kuldeep Yadav and Shardul Thakur both claimed two wickets in addition to Siraj. India now has a 1-0 series lead after this victory.

India XI: India: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Ishan Kishan (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, and Mohammed Shami.
