Digital Desk: The Indian women's hockey team is celebrating a remarkable achievement as they have surged back to their best-ever sixth-place ranking in the world following their outstanding performances in the recently concluded Asian Champions Trophy and the Hangzhou Asian Games. This impressive feat has been made possible with a total of 2368.83 rating points, putting them ahead of England.

Before their successful campaigns in these events, the Indian women's team was ranked eighth globally. However, their bronze medal win at the Asian Games and a dominant title victory at the Asian Champions Trophy in Ranchi, where they remained unbeaten, catapulted them back to their best-ever world ranking, a position they last held during the FIH Pro League in June last year.

The current top five teams in the world remain unchanged, with the Netherlands leading the pack at 3422.40 points, followed by Australia, Argentina, Belgium, and Germany.

This rise in world ranking is a significant boost for the Indian women's team as they prepare for the upcoming FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers scheduled from January 13 to 19 in Ranchi. In this crucial event, India will compete against Germany, New Zealand, Japan, Chile, the United States, Italy, and the Czech Republic for a chance to secure a spot in the Paris Olympics next year.
