The police had previously stated that the gunfight between the security forces and the militants originating from the other side of the border was still going on.

Jammu & Kashmir Police stated that the encounter started on Thursday afternoon in the Samno pocket of the DH Pora region of Kulgam district.

39 Rashtriya Riffles, an elite special forces unit of the Army, police, and the CRPF are all involved in the coordinated operation against the militants.

According to the IDF, on November 15, Wednesday, an attempt at infiltration was foiled along the Line of Control in the Uri Sector.

Operation Kali, a combined operation between the army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, saw the infiltrators neutralised.

The same area has seen two attempts at penetration.

A major piece in the cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir that is allowed by Pakistan, according to the Army, was Bashir Ahmed Malik, one of the two infiltrators who were murdered.
