Mother’s Day is more than just a celebration
Digital Desk: On 10th May, Mother’s Day is being celebrated today in India, the USA, and many other countries across the world to honour mothers and maternal figures for their endless love, sacrifices, and contributions to family and society.
The special day is marked by people expressing gratitude and appreciation through flowers, greeting cards, gifts, family meals, and heartfelt gestures. Many also take over household chores to make mothers feel valued and cherished.
Mother’s Day is more than just a celebration. It is a reminder to acknowledge the invisible labour of mothers , the sleepless nights, constant care, emotional strength, and unwavering support they provide throughout life.
The origins of Mother’s Day date back to ancient times. The Greeks and Romans celebrated spring festivals dedicated to mother goddesses such as Rhea, the mother of Zeus, and Cybele, known as “Magna Mater” or the “Great Mother.” Devotees offered flowers and honey-cakes during these celebrations as a mark of respect and devotion.
