Digital Desk: National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has revised the Class 12 History book by removing the chapters on the Mughal Empire.

The syllabus of all boards, including the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Uttar Pradesh, and other state boards that follow NCERT, will be affected as a result of this. The NCERT has developed a rationalised syllabus for the 2023-24 academic year.

The chapters and subjects pertaining to 'Kings and Chronicles; the Mughal Courts (C. 16th and 17th centuries)' from the history book 'Themes of Indian History-Part II' have been omitted from the updated curriculum.

Certain poems and paragraphs will also be removed from Hindi textbooks by the NCERT.

Together with History, the Civics book for Class 12th has been changed. The NCERT has eliminated two chapters from the book headed "American Hegemony in International Politics" and "The Cold War Period."

In addition, the chapters 'Rise of Popular Movements' and 'Period of One Party Domination' from the Class 12th textbook 'Indian Politics after Independence' have been omitted.

The NCERT has also updated the curriculum for classes 10 and 11. Topics such as "Central Islamic Regions," "Clash of Cultures," and "Industrial Revolution" have been dropped from the Class 11 textbook "Themes in Global History."

According to a senior source, the new syllabus and texts were updated this year and are being applied at various schools.
