Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that individuals do not have to get a trade license for starting a business in Gaon Panchayat (GP) regions.
The Assam government has decided to take this decision to make it more habitable for local entrepreneurs in rural regions of the state to do business.
Assam chief minister Sarma announced the move on Saturday, stating that the state administration has withdrawn the 'trade license' system in panchayat areas.
"Until now, anyone wishing to create a business in a panchayat area had to obtain a trade license certificate from the panchayat president." "However, the state government has decided that such a method would no longer be used," the CM stated.

Regardless, if somebody desires to build a liquor shop or bar in a panchayat region, a trade approval will be required, according to Sarma. "To open liquor on and off outlets, only approval is required," he noted.
In the state, there are approximately 2200 panchayats. Under this step, the small-scale enterprises will be benefited. Moreover, this move will enhance the GP region people's livelihood.
