Home Minister Amit Shah follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Even though the BJP has a new leader in JP Nadda, Shah continues to wields enormous power inside the party.

Digital Desk: The Indian Express’s ‘100 Most Powerful Indian List 2022’ has one thing in common: Narendra Modi, as Prime Minister for still another year, stays at the top of the list. From imposing strict lockdown regulations on a nation of 1.3 billion people to putting India on the route of creating and distributing indigenous Covid-19 vaccines, Narendra Modi has dominated India’s political scene more than ever since assuming power eight years ago. Most recently, with the evacuation of nearly 22,000 young Indians from war-torn Ukraine, the PM has established himself as the most real leader.

Home Minister Amit Shah follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Even though the BJP has a new leader in JP Nadda, Shah continues to wields enormous power inside the party. Mohan Bhagwat, the president of the RSS, is ranked third. Fourth place is held by JP Nadda. Mukesh Ambani, the richest Indian with a net worth of more than $96 billion (according to Forbes), is ranked fifth.

In sixth place is Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who led the BJP to a second straight term in the state’s assembly election. Following Yogi is Gautam Adani, another wealthy Indian businessman who may soon be worth more than $100 billion. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is ranked eighth, followed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who are ranked ninth and tenth, respectively.

Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, whose comment has made news recently, has been named 32 among the most influential Indians in The Indian Express’ ranking of the 100 most powerful politicians.

”The BJP’s most powerful chief minister in the Northeast, he is seen as the dean of the political circuit there. Known for his controversial remarks, he brings to the table a clout that transcends the party’s core vote base,” the Indian Express said.

Sarma is the 15th Chief Minister of Assam and was sworn as the same on 10th May 2021 succeeding his fellow mate Sarbananda Sonowal.
