The militant disclosed that six of his companions had previously received treatment for bullet wounds at a private hospital in Guwahati

Digital Desk: In a significant development amid the Manipur violence, a Kuki militant, Lunmi Sei, has disclosed shocking information regarding treatment in Guwahati hospitals. Sei disclosed to the police that numerous bullet-injured Kuki militants sought medical attention in Guwahati hospitals following the outbreak of violence in Manipur.

However, sources indicate that no hospital in Guwahati reported such incidents to authorities regarding the admission of individuals with bullet wounds.

Sei was apprehended at a private hospital in Guwahati by police and is expected to be transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) soon.

The militant disclosed that six of his companions had previously received treatment for bullet wounds at a private hospital in Guwahati. Sources suggest that these militants were injured by gunfire from the Indian Army and subsequently hospitalised in Guwahati for advanced medical care.

This revelation raises serious concerns about the ethical conduct of medical professionals in Guwahati, as hospitals are mandated to report gunshot wounds to the police, according to experts; however, no official statement has been released yet from either the police or the hospital.

In India, the reporting of bullet injuries is governed by the law outlined in the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), specifically Section 39, which mandates the reporting of certain offences to the nearest magistrate or police station. Additionally, hospitals are required to adhere to the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare regarding reporting and documenting such cases, according to experts.
