In the Palamu district of Jharkhand, the national flag was tampered with during a Muharram procession...

Digital Desk: A Police officer in Jharkhand's Palamu district stated on Sunday that an FIR had been filed against 18 persons for allegedly tampering with the national flag during the Muharram parade.

The ensuing incident came about on Friday night in the Chainpur police station area, around 175 kilometres from Ranchi, during a parade past places including Shahpur, Kalyanpur, and Kankari as part of the mourning festival.

A "national flag" was raised throughout the procession, according to additional superintendent of police (SP) Rishav Garg. DJs were also playing during the event. The authorities looked into the situation when a video of the allegedly tampered flag went viral.

The colours were the same as the national flag, he stated, but the Ashoka Chakra was missing.

"Instead of the Ashoka Chakra, some Urdu words were written, with a sword mark at the bottom." An FIR has been filed under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act against 18 people, including 13 identified individuals, stated Garg.

In charge of the Chainpur police station According to Rupesh Kumar Dubey, raids are being launched to apprehend the suspects in the case.
