Digital Desk: Bhaskar Khulbe, a former Prime Minister's Office advisor, stated on Friday that the rescue mission to liberate the 41 trapped labourers in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi will resume soon.

On November 12, an under-construction tunnel in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi collapsed, trapping 41 workers. Over a 60-meter stretch on the Silkyara side, falling debris closed the tunnel from Silkyara to the Barkot end.

Additionally, Uttarakhand DIPR stated that PM Modi has talked over the phone regarding the "condition of the workers trapped inside the tunnel and the food and daily routine items provided to them."




There were expectations for good news by Friday after the installation of 44 metres of pipe inside the tunnel via horizontal drilling. However, the rescue attempt suffered another setback on Thursday night when the auger drilling machine stopped working again. 

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami would be on the scene throughout the night to monitor the rescue efforts. The drilling work is expected to commence on Friday at 9:00 a.m. 

As stated by Mukesh Nautiyal, the project manager of the Operation 108 Ambulance initiative, 41 ambulances are stationed at the Silkyara tunnel site, 31 from '108' and 10 from the administration.
