Mumbai: Almost 190 school students including teachers have tested positive for Covid-19 in Maharashtra as the state struggles to battle the sudden surge in Covid cases. The school premises have been declared a containment zone.
The students are mostly from Amravati and Yavatmal, two districts that have contributed to a spike in virus cases in recent weeks.
Maharashtra recorded over 8,800 new cases in a single day on Wednesday, the biggest spike in four months.

The state government and Mumbai police have warned of strict measures if people do not follow virus protocol and restrictions.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has also ordered strict action against those who violate the rules and equally sought a report from the officials and the police for the same.
