Digital Desk: Two workers from Uttar Pradesh were killed on Tuesday (October 18) after militants hurled a grenade at non-locals in the Herman area of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district.

The non-local labourers have been identified as Manish Kumar and Ram Sagar. Both the victims are citizens of Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj district.

The resistance front (TRF) has claimed the responsibility for the attack, and the terrorist has been arrested.

Terrorists attacked Manish Kumar and Ram Sagar while they were sleeping in a tin shack.

A hand grenade was thrown inside the tin shelter, where five workers were sleeping.

According to the Kashmir Zone Police, "Terrorists lobbed hand grenades in Harmen, Shopian in which two labourers from UP namely Manish Kumar and Ram Sagar, both residents of Kanooj, UP, got injured. They were shifted to the hospital where they succumbed. Area cordoned off."

"Hybrid terrorist of proscribed terror outfit LeT Imran Bashir Ganie of Harmen Shopian who lobbed grenade arrested by Shopian police. Further investigation and raids are going on, said ADGP Kashmir via Twitter."

This is the second time in a week that terrorists have attacked minorities in the Shopian district. Earlier, terrorists killed a Kashmiri Pandit in Shopian on Saturday (October 15).

The victim, identified as Puran Krishan Bhat, was targeted outside his residence on Saturday morning.

The Kashmiri Pandit received bullet injuries initially in the terror attack in South Kashmir's Shopian district.

BJP leader & former J&K Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta spoke out about the murder of two Hindu labourers in Shopian. He criticized Kashmiri politicians, claiming that Farooq Abdullah and other leaders "are encouraging terrorists to carry out massacres of innocents in the valley."
