Tom Tom, in its research, stated that Bengaluru is globally the second slowest city to drive in, where it takes 29 minutes and 10 seconds of travel time to cover 10 km by road.


Digital Desk: According to a survey by TomTom, a Dutch multinational producer of location technology, Bengaluru is the second-slowest city in the world to drive in, with a maximum speed of just 10 km/hr.


According to the report, the 10 kilometre journey through Bengaluru's downtown last year took 29 minutes and 9 seconds.


On Thursday, the global traffic-based technology company Tom Tom issued its index. It included information on 2022 traffic patterns in 389 cities throughout 56 countries.

Tom Tom, in its research, stated that Bengaluru is globally the second slowest city to drive in, where it takes 29 minutes and 10 seconds of travel time to cover 10 km by road.


London ranks first with an average of 36 minutes and 20 seconds to travel 6.2 miles (10 km). Ireland's capital, Dublin, Japanese town of Sapporo and Milan in Italy, rank third, 4th and 5th, respectively, the report said.


Pune was ranked 6th, while Delhi was at 34th position. Similarly, Mumbai was ranked 47 with more than 21 minutes to travel 10 km.


Bengaluru is ranked fourth among cities in the research for wasted time caused by traffic, according to the findings. In the list of "Cities with the highest CO2 emissions per driven miles during rush hour," the city came in fifth.


According to the data, the average yearly CO2 emission for petrol cars in Bengaluru based on a six-mile roundtrip is 974 kg.
