  • Two Assam Cabinet Ministers recently conducted separate review meetings, focusing on crucial development and transport projects across the Barak Valley, highlighting a renewed commitment to regional progress and connectivity

Silchar witnessed a focused governmental push last Thursday as two Cabinet Ministers convened separate high-level meetings to review ongoing development and transport initiatives across the Barak Valley. The discussions underscored the administration's renewed commitment to enhancing connectivity and ensuring comprehensive regional development.

Krishnendu Paul, who serves as Cabinet Minister and also holds the Guardian Minister portfolios for Cachar and Dima Hasao, besides heading the Barak Valley Development Department, reiterated the government’s unwavering dedication. He stressed the importance of “inclusive and sustainable development” for the region, aiming to significantly improve the quality of life for its residents. During his review of departmental initiatives, Minister Paul emphasized that all public welfare schemes must translate into tangible benefits for citizens without unnecessary delays.

In a significant announcement, Minister Paul revealed plans to launch a dedicated toll-free grievance helpline in the near future. This new service aims to provide a more effective channel for addressing public concerns. He further directed all departments to prioritize the timely completion of both ongoing and sanctioned projects, stating, "Public welfare projects must directly benefit the people without delay." The review meeting, which also saw the participation of Udharbond MLA Rajdeep Goala, delved into several priority sectors, including infrastructure development and the preservation of cultural heritage.

These coordinated reviews signal a concentrated effort to tackle long-standing issues within the Barak Valley, particularly concerning its road network, which has historically been a critical determinant of the region's socio-economic progress. The government's emphasis on accountability and expedited project delivery suggests a proactive approach to fostering growth and improving public services in this vital part of Assam.
