Digital Desk: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared that it will not award any overall division, distinction, or aggregate to students appearing for the Class 10 and Class 12 exams in 2024. The board will neither calculate nor declare the percentage of marks obtained by the students. This decision comes in response to numerous requests from candidates seeking clarity on the criteria for percentage calculation.
Additionally, for candidates taking more than five subjects, the decision to determine the best five subjects will be left to the admitting institutes or employers recruiting CBSE board students. The board emphasizes that if percentages are needed for higher education or employment purposes, the calculating responsibility can be assumed by the admitting institution or employer.
The CBSE will conduct practical exams, project works, and internal assessments for the 2023-24 academic session from January 1, 2024, for all affiliated schools in India and abroad. The theory exams for both Class 10 and Class 12 will commence on February 15, 2024, with a complete date sheet yet to be released. This move aims to shift the focus from mere percentage attainment to a more comprehensive evaluation of students' skills and capabilities.
