Increases in the number of current COVID-19 cases in multiple states have been reported, according to ministry data updated at 8 am on Thursday.


Digital Desk: The Union Health Ministry released data on January 11 that showed a 514 coronavirus increase in India in a single day. There were 3,422 Covid-19 instances in India as of Thursday. Three more deaths—two from Maharashtra and one from Karnataka—have been reported in the past day, bringing the total number of deaths in the nation to 5,33,409.

Less than 100 cases a day of Covid were reported until December 5, 2023; however, as the temperature dropped, a new variant (JN.1) turned up. JN.1, an Omicron kin variant that the WHO has designated as a "variant of interest," started to show an increase in instances.

With 44,483,502 people having recovered so far, the nation's recovery rate stands at 98.81 percent. On the website of the health ministry, the current death rate is listed as 1.81%. As of January 6, 12 states nationwide had reported 682 cases of the JN.1 sub-variant of Covid-19. 

The administration has urged people not to worry, but as a precaution, those who have comorbidities should put on face masks.
