Digital Desk: A newborn baby girl was saved from a dump in southwest Delhi on Saturday. She was hypothermic, incredibly weak, and out in the rain with her umbilical cord still connected.

The baby is currently being kept in a private hospital. She is being examined by the doctors to rule out any medical issues.

She was spotted by two passerby’s in  Rajokri village who immediately called the police. As per reports, police received information on a girl child who was found lying in the trash at Rajokri Bus Stand.

The baby was taken to Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj, by the police where she is currently undergoing primary treatment in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and her health is stable. Further legal action is being taken as per the law, the DCP added.

A team of doctors in Fortis Hospital took the baby into their care. The team is led by Dr. Rahul Nagpal, Director, and Head of the Department, of Pediatrics

Reports say that the baby was born within the last 24 to 48 hours, and her skin turned blue because of being exposed to cold air. Her weight is below two kilos, which is lesser than average. Also as a preterm baby, her body temperature was 33 degree Celsius, lower than the normal 36.4 degrees Celsius.
