In a commendable show of solidarity and community support, the Dibrugarh District Primary Teachers' Association, with active participation from various block-level teacher associations, recently provided educational supplies to 4,206 students from 123 primary schools severely impacted by recent floods. The initiative focused on schools within the Nazira Education Block of Sivasagar district.
The distribution programme, held on Wednesday afternoon at approximately 1:30 PM, took place at the auditorium of Nazira Girls' Higher Secondary School. This effort aimed at mitigating the academic disruption faced by students in the wake of the devastating floods that have affected parts of Assam.
Shailendra Kalita, General Secretary of the Assam State Primary Teachers' Association, formally inaugurated the event. During his address, Kalita lauded the Dibrugarh teachers' association for undertaking such a vital, community-focused initiative, emphasizing the importance of supporting students during challenging times. Other notable attendees included Parashar Saikia, Nazira Block Education Officer, and Manju Gharphalia, Principal of Nazira Girls' Higher Secondary School, both of whom also spoke to the students.
The entire distribution drive was efficiently conducted by Pankaj Bora, who serves as the Secretary of the Dibrugarh District Teachers' Association and Deputy Secretary of the Assam State Primary Teachers' Association. Such collaborative efforts by educational bodies underscore the resilience and mutual support within the state's teaching community, vital for helping affected regions recover and rebuild.
