Digital Desk: The Delhi Police have busted a counterfeit toothpaste manufacturing unit operating in the Kanjhawala area of outer Delhi and arrested its owner.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid at a godown in Mahaveer Vihar on 2nd April. During the operation, officials seized a large quantity of fake toothpaste, empty tubes, packaging materials, machines, adhesive tapes bearing a well-known brand name, glue, heating guns, and other raw materials.
According to a senior police officer, the seized goods were worth several lakhs of rupees and posed serious health risks due to unhygienic manufacturing conditions.
During the raid, six labourers were found filling locally prepared paste into tubes of a reputed toothpaste brand. Upon questioning, the workers revealed that the unit was being operated by Hari Om Mishra, a 58-year-old resident of Rohini.
Police arrested Mishra, who was reportedly running the illegal unit from a rented premises without any licence, bills, or authorisation documents.
Officials recovered around 1,800 filled counterfeit toothpaste tubes, more than 10,000 empty tubes, and over 1,200 packaged tubes. Additionally, approximately 130 kilograms of blue-coloured paste stored in drums were seized.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is currently underway.
