Digital Desk: Police in Barpeta made significant progress when a large-scale fraud involving bogus voter identification cards was exposed and three of the suspects were taken into custody. According to police sources, the three suspects who were detained by the police were involved in creating phoney voter identification documents for individuals with questionable backgrounds.

According to reports, one is the main suspect, and two other people were also taken into custody alongside him.

Farukh Khan was named as the case's main defendant. He was detained by the police together with Sahidul and Abdul Ali. According to reports, the detained prime accused Khan was in possession of 262 fraudulent voter identification cards. Under the direction of the officer-in-charge of Barpeta Sadar Police Station, raids were carried out at three different locations throughout Barpeta based on information obtained from the criminals who were apprehended.

The phoney voter IDs were printed on electronic devices, including a desktop computer, a laptop, and a printer, according to police officials. According to reports, criminals belonged to a group called D Voters Nagarik Mancha. According to reports, the police carried out the operation in response to a complaint made by District Election Officer Mayurakshi Dutta. Earlier, in the first week of September, the Assam Police busted a fake currency ring, detained four suspects in two separate operations in the districts of Nagaon and Hojai, and seized the tools used to produce the phoney money.

A police squad from the Kachua police station in the Nagaon district conducted an operation in a house there after receiving a confidential tip. One Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN)-printing machine, 103 fake Rs. 500 notes, 6 genuine Rs. 500 notes, a bundle of A4-size paper, a motorcycle, and three mobile phone handsets were all seized by police during the operation.
