Digital Desk: Following severe rains and an increase in the Brahmaputra river's water level, the ferry service between Jorhat and Majuli has been suspended indefinitely. According to media sources, ferry services at Nimati ghat, Kamlabari, and other locations will be suspended as well.

This, according to reports, takes effect today. In particular, severe rains have been falling in Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal during the previous few days, causing waterlogging and disrupting train and road transportation.

In Assam, three people were killed and 24,681 people were affected by heavy rain and flash floods, which hit 94 villages across six districts. Cachar, Dhemaji, Hojai, Karbi Anglong West, Nagaon, and Kamrup (Metro) have been impacted by floods, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), and three persons, including a lady, died in landslide incidents in the Haflong area of the Dima Hasao district on Saturday.
