Digital Desk: Five Assamese labourers' bodies that were
among the 19 still unaccounted for from a road construction site in the Kurung
Kumey region of Arunachal Pradesh were discovered on Friday. Rescue personnel
have just discovered five dead bodies in the deep jungle between Huri and Tapa,
according to Kurung Kumey Deputy Commissioner Nighee Bengia. The bodies were discovered
at various times and places, including one on July 25, three on July 26, and
one on July 28. Six people were killed in the incident after the recovery of
the five bodies, according to Bengia, who was quoted by PTI.
The dismembered body, however, could not be recovered. Ten
of the 19 construction workers from Assam who went missing along the Indo-China
border in the Kurung Kumey District of Arunachal Pradesh have so far been
located and saved. The bodies, according to the labourers who were saved, belonged
to Forizul Haque, Moijal Haque, Sohar Ali, and Abul Hussain. The identity of
the fifth body is unknown.
The Assamese labourers who were working on the border road between India and China on July 5 reportedly left after being denied permission to return home.
They then split into two groups of eight and eleven and set out on foot through the jungles for their homes.
