Over 10,049 displaced people are being housed in 109 relief camps and distribution facilities that the state has established.

Digital Desk: Following incessant monsoon rains, severe flooding in Assam has caused over 137,842 people to be relocated across eleven districts, including Kamrup and Golaghat. The most recent report from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) states that as of June 26, 2024, 487 villages are under water, and the issue is being made worse by the Kushiyara River exceeding its danger mark in the Karimganj district.

Over 10,049 displaced people are being housed in 109 relief camps and distribution facilities that the state has established. Even though no injuries have been reported as of Wednesday, rescue efforts with the help of boats and helicopters are still underway to help individuals who are stuck.

The floods have affected 124,872 animals and caused livelihood disruptions on 1334.51 hectares of agricultural land. Providing impacted populations with basic necessities like rice and dal as well as medical assistance is the main goal of relief efforts. The crisis management authorities are keeping a tight eye on water levels and weather forecasts in anticipation of further issues ahead.
