Digital Desk: In the most recent development in the fresh tensions that erupted in Pallel on September 8, the violence claimed the lives of two people, and over 90 individuals sustained injuries. In the Tengnoupal district, a fierce battle broke out between armed militants and state security forces.

According to reports, a heavily armed group allegedly attacked the Molnoi area early in the morning, around 6 a.m., using high-tech weapons. In response, a police squad rushed to the scene, aiming to protect the inhabitants of the area. The security forces and the armed group engaged in ongoing gunfire exchanges as a result of this operation. According to sources, the fierce battle may have resulted in the deaths of at least four militants.

Thousands of people from both the Kakching and Thoubal sides converged on the Pallel region after hearing allegations of armed militants attacking innocent residents. Assam Rifles personnel stationed in Pallel opposed their unarmed determination to defend Manipur from armed militants.

Through the early morning hours, gunshots echoed again, raising tensions further. A significant number of men and women confronted Assam Rifles forces in an attempt to enter the Pallel area where the firing was ongoing. Assam Rifles reportedly used tear gas shells to control the situation.

Over 20 of the 90 persons who were injured suffered from gunshot wounds, leaving two people dead from bullet wounds. Yengkhom Jiten (48), of Kakching Chumnang Samballei Pareng in the Kakching district, has been identified as one of the deceased, while the other's identity is still unknown.
