The Guwahati Customs Division's Divisional Preventive Force made the seizures.

Digital Desk:  A team from the Guwahati Customs division on Sunday confiscated 11.56 kg of a solid waxy substance that was combustible and thought to be Ambergris, sometimes known as whale vomit.

An official has calculated that the suspected Ambergris is worth Rs. 91 crore on the world market.

Ambergris is a grey to blackish substance that is created in the sperm whale's digestive tract. According to a Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) research, it is typically found along the sea coasts of the Maldives, China, Japan, India, South Africa, Brazil, Madagascar, Australia, and New Zealand.

To enhance the fragrance of fragrances, ambrein is derived from ambergris.

According to Schedule I of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972, ambergris is prohibited in India for both sale and personal possession.
