Days after those in the state in possession of illegal weapons surrendered them to the authorities, Amit Shah issued the appeal.

Digital Desk: On Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah appealed to the residents of violence-hit Manipur to remove the roadblocks on the NH-2 between Imphal and Dimapur so that food, medication, and other necessities can be moved quickly.

The union home minister urged the people of Manipur on his social media account to remove the roadblocks on the Imphal-Dimapur, NH-2 Highway so that supplies like food, medication, diesel, and other necessities could get to the people.

Additionally, Amit Shah urged civil society organisations to assist in fostering agreement on the issue.

Days after those in the state in possession of illegal weapons surrendered them to the authorities, Amit Shah issued the appeal.

Following a strong warning from Shah, more than 140 guns were handed over to the police on Friday. The Union Home Minister had issued a warning that a search operation for the weapons will shortly begin and that anyone found in possession of illegal weapons would face harsh punishment.

A "Tribal Solidarity March" was held in the hill areas of Manipur on May 3 to oppose the Meitei community's desire for Scheduled Tribe (ST) designation. As a result, racial clashes broke out. Since then, waves of violence have occurred, including the most recent round of skirmishes, which left at least 5 people dead on Sunday.
