A significant joint operation conducted by the Assam Rifles and Aizawl Police on June 10 resulted in the recovery of an improvised explosive device (IED) and the apprehension of an individual in the Seling area of Mizoram's Aizawl district. The successful intervention marks a crucial step in maintaining regional peace and security.
Officials stated that the operation was part of a meticulously planned mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) exercise. This initiative is designed to bolster security measures across the region and effectively prevent the movement of illegal and hazardous materials that could pose a threat to public safety.
During the coordinated action, security personnel intercepted and apprehended Yening Ku, who was allegedly transporting the explosive device. Alongside the IED, the joint team also recovered an antenna component and several articles of clothing, which are believed to be part of an underground cadre uniform. Following the apprehension, Yening Ku and all recovered items were handed over to the Aizawl Police for comprehensive investigation and the initiation of legal proceedings.
This operation underscores the unwavering vigilance of security forces operating in the Northeast and their steadfast commitment to upholding peace and security in Mizoram. Further investigations are currently underway to ascertain the origin of the IED, its intended use, and any potential links to other networks or individuals.
