The decree prohibits gatherings of five or more people in public spaces such as fields, through fares, streets, and the grounds of government and semi-government offices.

Digital Desk: The district administration in Assam's Nalbari has immediately implemented Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) for a term of 60 days in the whole district.

The order was issued after peace and tranquillity were entirely violated in multiple locations following enormous protests organised by various organisations throughout the district over the relocation of the Nalbari Civil Hospital.

The District Magistrate of Nalbari, Gitimoni Phukan, stated in a notification issued on Monday that "there is the likelihood of a breach of peace and tranquillity in the district, and in order to prevent such breach of peace and tranquillity, there are sufficient grounds for proceeding 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973."

The decree prohibits gatherings of five or more people in public spaces such as fields, through fares, streets, and the grounds of government and semi-government offices.

Procession in public locations such as thorough fares, streets, and so forth has been forbidden. The use of explosives, including firecrackers, in public places, streets, and thoroughfares has also been forbidden, as has the intimidation of any individual in the proper fulfilment of responsibilities.
