Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao Saturday announced that his government would compensate Rs 3 lakh each to the kin of farmers who died during farmer's protest.

CM K Chandrasekhar Rao asked the central government to provide ₹ 25 lakh to the farmers who died. He also asked the government to remove all claims against the protesting farmers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced about the repeal of three farm laws two on Friday. This news of providing ex-gratia to families of deceased farmers came following.

The compensation announced by Telangana will cost the state ₹ 22.5 crores, stated the chief minister. He further asked the leaders to send details of the farmers who died.

He also asked the Centre to remove all cases against farmers and their followers. CM Rao asked Centre to make a law on Minimum Support Prices in the winter session of the Parliament.

The chief minister also said that the farmers in the nation should be made 'aatmanirbhar' before anything else.

He additionally asked caste-based census as per the decision adopted by the state assembly. Apart from the withdrawal of the Electricity Amendments Bill.
