TMC observers for Tripura, Rajib Banerjee and MP Sushmita Dev met with party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee at his office...

Digital Desk: The Trinamool Congress is expected to compete alone in the upcoming Tripura assembly elections, but it has yet to decide whether it will contest all 60 constituencies or just those where it has a strong presence.

TMC observers for Tripura, Rajib Banerjee and MP Sushmita Dev met with party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee at his office in Kolkata on Friday evening, along with leaders from the northeastern state.

"As of now, it has been decided that we will run alone for the Tripura assembly. In West Bengal, we beat the BJP. We will wait a few more days before deciding how many seats we would run for, and then we will decide whether to run in all 60 constituencies or only those where we have a significant presence," Rajib Banerjee told PTI after the three-hour meeting.

On January 22, the party will hold a strategy meeting in Agartala.

The Tripura assembly elections will be held on February 16, with vote counting slated on March 2.
