United Nations agency stated that around 22.8 million people in Afghanistan would face starvation as per reports. The mixed consequences of drought, dispute, Covid-19 and the financial crisis have seriously affected livelihoods.

According to the report's findings, Afghanistan's harsh winter looms, advancing to cut off regions of the nation. The regions where families severely depend on humanitarian aid to withstand the cold winter periods.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) statement has discovered that more than 1 in 2 Afghans will face a crisis. Or else they will face emergency (IPC Phase 4) levels of acute food insecurity. This insecurity would come through November 2021 to March 2022 lean season.

Therefore, this matter necessitates urgent humanitarian interventions to meet fundamental food needs, defend livelihoods and check a humanitarian disaster.

The report also records that this is the most significant number of severely food vulnerable people ever. As recorded in the 10 years the UN conducted IPC studies in Afghanistan. Afghanistan is home to one of the largest numbers of people in acute food instability.

"It is essential that we act efficiently and productively to race up and mount up our delivery in Afghanistan. This needs to be done before winter cuts off a large part of the country. Millions of people – including farmers, women, young children, and the elderly – go hungry in freezing winter. It is a matter of life or death. We cannot wait and see humanitarian disasters unfolding in front of us. Hence, it is unacceptable," stated QU Dongyu, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Director-General.

"Afghanistan is now among the world's worst humanitarian crises - if not the worst - and food security has all but collapsed. This winter, millions of Afghans will be choose to face between emigration and starvation. Therefore, this could only be stop if we can step up our life-saving assistance. We are on a countdown to catastrophe. So, if we don't act now, we will have a total disaster on our hands," Said WFP Executive Director David Beasley.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPC) report indicates a 37% rise in the number of Afghans suffering acute hunger. SO,this data is highest since the last assessment issued in April this year.

In rural areas, the critical influence of the second drought in four years continues. It continues to affect the livelihoods of 7.3 million people who depend on farming and livestock to survive.
