Shopian: The police authority of Jammu and Kashmir has said that three militants were killed after an encounter with security forces. The incident took place in the Shopian region of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Four newly recruited local #terrorists of Al-Badr terror outfit trapped in #Kanigam area of #Shopian. Exercising maximum restraint, Police & security forces are trying their best to persuade them to #surrender. @JmuKmrPolice,” Kashmir Zone police Tweeted.

A newly recruited militant, Tausif Ahmad, surrendered. Operations are still going on. however, the internet services in the area were suspended.
The defense troops started a search operation in the Kanigam area of the South Kashmir district during the night following information about the presence of militants there, a police official said.

Police said that the newly recruited militants belong to Al-Badr militant outfit.Police stated that the militants have turned down the surrender offer and fired upon the armed forces from inside the building. The security forces requited, following an encounter, the official said, adding that additional details were awaited.
