Agra: A 28 year old man from Agra died of severe burns on Thursday after a woman he was in a relationship with threw acid on him.
The 25 year old woman, Sonam worked at a private hospital with the man Devendra who was an assistant at the pathology lab there and they knew each other for a long time. They had been in a relationship for a long time even when they moved to different hospitals.
Sonam, a resident of Auriya District found out that Devendra’s marriage had been fixed with someone else. To get revenge, she called him under the false pretext of fixing a fan in her home, when he reached her place; she immediately attacked him with acid.
Devendra was rushed to the hospital with 80% burn injuries on his body where he died a few hours later. Sonam also sustained minor burn injuries while throwing the acid, and has also been admitted to the hospital.
Superintendent of police (SP) Botre Rohan Promod in his statement said, “An FIR has been registered against the woman under section 326-A (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid) and 302 (murder) of IPC. Further investigations are on. She has been placed under arrest.”
