Digital Desk: The Zubeen Garg murder case continues to unfold as strong reactions emerge following recent court proceedings. Speaking to the media, Garima Saikia Garg asserted that none of the accused showed any signs of remorse, reiterating her demand that the accused be given the harshest possible punishment. She remarked that the accused must be punished and expressed growing confidence that justice will be delivered to Zubeen Garg.

Garima Garg also praised the newly appointed team of government lawyers, stating that they have presented arguments effectively before the court. She confirmed that full cooperation is being extended to the Singapore Police, while emphasizing that the judicial process in Singapore is entirely different from that in India. According to her, the legal process in Singapore is currently at a very preliminary stage.

She further stressed that several non-resident Assamese people based in Singapore should be brought under the range  of the investigation, alleging that their negligence contributed to the unfortunate incident. “Just as the seven accused are responsible, the non-resident Assamese people present there are also equally responsible,” she said. An application has been submitted to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) seeking to include them in the probe.

Advocate Apurba Sharma stated that the hearing on bail applications is scheduled for 22nd January , while the regular hearing of the case will take place on 30th January . Meanwhile, the defense has filed an application citing the deteriorating health condition of one of the accused, seeking appropriate medical treatment through court intervention.

Advocates Ziaul Kamar and others argued that the case should be conducted in a special court with day-to-day hearings, stating that only a fast-tracked trial can ensure justice for Zubeen Garg.

It was also pointed out that the non-resident Assamese people in Singapore are yet to be brought under investigation. Legal experts noted that the case may be registered against them under Section 358 of the BNSS, and that the government prosecutor has the authority to independently seek their inclusion in the case through court approval. Garima Saikia Garg has reiterated this demand.

Meanwhile, Shyamkanu Mahanta and Nandeswar Bora have filed bail applications before the court.
