Welcoming the investment initiative, the union demanded employment opportunities for the young people of the state.

Digital Desk: All Assam Students' Union (AASU) on Friday showed its support towards the recently concluded Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit organised by the Assam government. However, the union emphasised on job creation for the Assamese youths.

Welcoming the investment initiative, the union demanded employment opportunities for the young people of the state. The union said that the new projects should provide jobs for the locals, if not, then there would not be any noticeable benefit for the people of Assam.

AASU president Utpal Sharma said that investors from both the public and private sector entities entering Assam are a positive sign for the development of the state. It is also a good sign that some local investors are also involved in this process.

He further said that the union expects all those promises and announcements to be genuinely effective. These decisions will help the youth to get employment in the future.

AASU general secretary Samiran Phukan said that the union has always welcomed investors for the development of Assam's economic scenario. He added that investment in both agriculture and industry is necessary to make the economic foundation strong. The local youth needs to be employed in higher technical and non-technical positions instead of third and fourth-grade jobs in the existing and upcoming industries.
