Digital Desk: In a thrilling showdown at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, the Indian men's bridge team emerged victorious in the semifinal session one match of the men's team bridge event on Tuesday. Competing against the formidable Chinese squad, India demonstrated their strategic prowess, securing a commanding win with a final score of 22-66.

The clash with China was undoubtedly the highlight of the day, and the Indian team's performance left spectators in awe as they outplayed their opponents in an impressive display of bridge strategy.

Meanwhile, in the other semifinal matchup, Hong Kong showcased their bridge skills, prevailing over Japan with a score of 41-27. The competition heated up in the second session of the semifinal, where India and China battled to a hard-fought 22-22 tie, setting the stage for a nail-biting conclusion in the upcoming rounds.

The men's team bridge semifinals are a six-round contest, and the third session is scheduled to take place later on Tuesday. Subsequent rounds will unfold on Wednesday, promising further intense competition as the teams vie for a coveted spot in the finals.

India's journey to the semifinals began in the bridge qualification round, where they secured the second position with an impressive 278.93 points after 266 boards. Joining India in the semifinals are Hong Kong China, China, and Chinese Taipei, setting the stage for an exciting battle for gold.

While the Indian men's bridge team basks in their success, the women's and mixed teams faced tougher challenges. The Indian women's bridge team concluded their campaign in seventh place with 106.83 points, while the mixed team narrowly missed a semifinal berth, scoring 234.57 points, just 15.66 points shy of qualification.

With their stellar performance in the bridge, India has added to their medal tally at the 19th Asian Games. The Indian contingent currently stands in fourth place overall, boasting a total of 61 medals, including 13 gold, 24 silver, and 24 bronze medals. The bridge team's remarkable journey continues, and fans eagerly await the upcoming rounds as they vie for Asian Games glory.
