Digital Desk: The wait is over as Assam prepared for the decisive counting of votes for the 126-member Legislative Assembly.

Starting at 8 AM today, EVM boxes will be unsealed to determine the state's political trajectory for the next five years. Following a high-voltage electoral battle, speculation is at an all-time high.

The central question remains: will the ruling BJP-led alliance retain the "Dispur throne," or will the opposition alliance successfully seize governance?

Today's outcome will decide the fate of 722 candidates across 126 constituencies, representing the mandate of 2,49,58,139 voters.

Notably, this election marked the first time voting in Assam was conducted in a single phase.

Out of the 722 candidates, 663 are male and 59 are female. Vote counting will be conducted at a total of 40 centres.

While most districts host a single centre, Nagaon features three, and Kokrajhar, Tinsukia, and Jorhat have two each.

To ensure a transparent process, the Election Commission has deployed 126 counting observers- one for each constituency, alongside 5,981 officials and 2,348 micro-observers.

Assam's results are part of a broader national focus today, as West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala also move into the final counting phase.

Let's take a look at the voter turnout in each state:

Assam: Around 86% (an increase compared to last time)

Kerala: 78.27%

Puducherry: Around 89%

Tamil Nadu: Around 85%

West Bengal: 93.19%.
