To reduce pollution in the city and then spread it to the rest of the state, the state has also bought 200 electric buses.

Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated 100 buses powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) at ISBT in Guwahati on Sunday.

The ASTC implemented the CNG bus initiative as part of the Guwahati Smart City Project, according to sources.

The launch of the CNG buses and a few other initiatives, according to CM, will be the state's gift to the nation in the next year.

Sarma declared on Twitter that Guwahati has entered a new era of sustainability. Happy to flag off 100 CNG buses and Guwahati's first CNG station, which was installed by Purba Bharti Gas close to ISBT. We are getting closer to achieving Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2070 as clean and green energy is introduced into public transportation.

According to sources, two CNG filling stations have been installed in Ulubari and ISBT.

To reduce pollution in the city and then spread it to the rest of the state, the state has also bought 200 electric buses.

The government has taken the initiative to replace diesel-powered city buses with CNG and electric buses to ensure smooth and pollution-free transportation across the city.
