This alarming reduction in visibility prompted authorities to reroute six flights to Jaipur...

Digital Desk: Due to adverse weather conditions wreaked havoc in the national capital on January 14, affecting air travel significantly.

The dense fog that enveloped Delhi and parts of North India led to the redirection of seven flights to Jaipur and one to Mumbai between 4.30 am and 7.30 am.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) played a crucial role in addressing the situation, advising against unnecessary travel due to zero visibility in various areas.

The Palam Observatory, situated near the Indira Gandhi International Airport, reported intense fog, with visibility dropping to zero meters by 5 am.

This alarming reduction in visibility prompted authorities to reroute six flights to Jaipur and one to Mumbai during the specified time frame. As a precautionary measure, the public has been urged to exercise caution while driving in these challenging weather conditions.

The unexpected disruption serves as a reminder of the vulnerability of transportation systems to nature's whims and emphasizes the importance of staying informed and vigilant during adverse weather events.
