CCTV footage shows the car entering a parking lot near Sunehri Masjid, close to the Red Fort
Digital Desk: The Delhi blast that took place on November 10 around 6:55 p.m. outside the Lal Quila Metro Station is now suspected to be a ‘Fidayeen’ (suicide) attack. First line investigation indicates that the main suspect, who was Dr. Mohammad Umar, had intended the explosion soon after learning that the Faridabad terror module had been busted.
A CCTV image has emerged showing Umar driving a Hyundai i20, which later exploded near the Red Fort on Monday night, killing nine people and injuring twenty others. According to sources, Umar, a suspected terrorist linked to the Faridabad module, worked as a doctor at Al Falah Medical College in Faridabad. He is believed to be a close associate of Adeel Ahmad Rather, a former senior resident at the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag, who was arrested last week.
Based on Rather’s revelations, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have detained Umar’s mother, Shaheema Bano, and his brothers, Aashiq and Zahoor, for questioning . The attack was carried out in a rush by the investigators because Umar and two of his associates planned and executed the attack in haste, about learning about the arrests in Faridabad earlier that day.
Together, the trio reportedly planted a detonator inside the car before setting it off. Forensic experts have confirmed that Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil was used in the high-intensity blast, which occurred during the busy evening rush near the popular tourist area.
CCTV footage shows the car entering a parking lot near Sunehri Masjid, close to the Red Fort, at 3:19 p.m. and leaving at 6:48 p.m., moments before the explosion. The first part of the video shows the face of the driver, but as the vehicle advances, a masked man is observed behind the steering wheel, the man is presumed to be Dr. Umar.
