Digital Desk: Today morning, panic gripped Delhi’s Mahipalpur area, after reports of a loud, blast-like sound near the Radisson Hotel. The accident took place at approximately 9:18 a.m., prompting immediate action from both the Delhi Police and the Delhi Fire Service (DFS).

It was reported by the authorities that even a woman listening to the sound at the time was the first to place a PCR call, and afterwards the police and firefighters arrived at the location. The DFS confirmed that they received the call at around 9:18 a.m. and promptly dispatched three fire tenders to the location.

On arrival,  Delhi Police team  have cordoned off the locality and thoroughly searched the premise with the assistance of the bomb disposal and fire services. Following a thorough search, the officials noted that nothing suspicious was present in and around the premises of the hotel.

In a statement, a Delhi Police official said, “A call about a blast near Radisson, Mahipalpur was received, and our staff were immediately sent to the spot. The caller informed us that she heard a loud noise while traveling towards Gurugram. On investigation, it was discovered that the sound came from the rear tyre of a DTC bus heading toward Dhaula Kuan that had burst. The situation is completely normal, and there is no cause for concern.”

The incident, however, created temporary panic among locals and commuters, particularly in light of heightened security across the national capital following the car blast near Red Fort on 10th November. The explosion in which a white Hyundai i20 car, driven by suicide bomber Dr. Umar Nabi, killed 12 others and injured many more.

The Centre has since classified the Red Fort car explosion as a terrorist incident, and intensified security checks are being carried out across Delhi and several other states.
