Lord Hanuman is widely regarded as the greatest devotee of Lord Rama
Digital Desk: Hanuman Jayanti is being celebrated today with great devotion and enthusiasm across the country. The auspicious day marks the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman, a revered Hindu deity known for his unwavering devotion and immense strength.
Celebrations of Hanuman Jayanti vary across different states of India, depending on local traditions and calendars. In most northern states, the festival is observed on the full moon day (Purnima) of the Hindu month of Chaitra. This year, the occasion is being celebrated on 2nd April.
In states like Karnataka, Hanuman Jayanti is observed during Shukla Paksha Trayodashi, while in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, it is celebrated in the month of Dhanu (known as Margali in Tamil). In Odisha, the festival coincides with Pana Sankranti, aligning with the Odia New Year.
Lord Hanuman is widely regarded as the greatest devotee of Lord Rama, an incarnation of Vishnu. He is worshipped as a symbol of strength, courage, and devotion, and is also believed to be an incarnation of Shiva. Devotees revere him as a protector who has the power to ward off evil and bring victory over adversity.
On this occasion, devotees across the country offer prayers and seek blessings for protection, strength, and prosperity. Assam, too, is witnessing vibrant celebrations of the festival.
In Guwahati, special arrangements have been made across the city. A large number of devotees thronged Hanuman temples from early morning, forming long queues to offer prayers. Temples in areas such as Ganeshguri, Lachit Nagar, and New Guwahati saw a heavy influx of worshippers.
Devotees offered prayers seeking strength, courage, and peace, expressing faith that Lord Hanuman will remove obstacles and bless them with happiness and prosperity. The atmosphere remained filled with chants of devotion, including “Jai Shri Ram” and “Jai Hanuman.”
